Clinical Psychologist İrem Bengü Yılmazcan Kaya obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (English) from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at FMV Işık University. During her undergraduate studies, she actively participated in numerous volunteer projects and promotional activities. Throughout her university education, she took an active role in university orientation and promotion days, providing guidance and counseling services to prospective students.
She completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Okan University.
Since 2014, she has been volunteering with the Turkish Red Crescent in various fields including disaster response, blood services, migration, healthcare, social aid, first aid, and training, and continues to do so. She completed her internships as a volunteer psychologist at a private special education institution working with children, a rehabilitation center, counseling centers, and a private psychiatric hospital.
Between 2016 and 2020, she was involved in art-focused work at a private counseling center, where she conducted pedagogically supported art workshops for children in museums, art fairs, and various corporate projects.
Between 2020 and 2026, she worked at Moodist Psychiatry Hospital, where she organized art therapy workshops as the responsible psychologist of the art therapy outpatient clinic in adult psychiatry services. She also served as the responsible ward psychologist in the child and adolescent inpatient psychiatry unit and as a clinical psychologist in the child and adolescent outpatient clinic. Additionally, within Moodist Academy, she provided foundational training in art therapy, play therapy, and emotion regulation skills to undergraduate and graduate students.
As part of her graduate education, she received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. She conducted psychotherapy sessions under psychodynamic supervision. Her clinical supervision was provided by Prof. Dr. Mücahit Öztürk, Dr. Nilüfer Devecigil, and Dr. Deniz Aktan.
She continues her clinical work with children, adolescents, and families using an integrative approach that includes Experiential Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gottman Couple Therapy, and Art Therapy.
She is a member of the Turkish Psychological Association, the Association for Trauma and Disaster Mental Health Studies, the Art Psychotherapies Association, and the Turkish Red Crescent.
