It is a sudden intense resistance to going to school in school-age children. The main cause of the disease is excessive dependence on the mother. The cause of the disease is usually not related to school. Any event that can be considered separation from the mother for the child, such as the mother getting sick, being hospitalized, the birth of a sibling, which inevitably decreases the mother’s interest in the child, and events that threaten the family order such as divorce and parental discord can trigger the disorder.
Usually, a hard-working, school-loving child wants to stay home, claiming stomachaches, nausea, and similar physical complaints. If forced to go to school, he/she goes into severe panic and becomes irritable. When allowed to stay home, these symptoms suddenly disappear.
