World Play Day: The Power of Play for Parents
On May 28, World Play Day, e-bebek Academy hosted Clinical Psychologist Deniz Tan for an online session tailored to parents. Representing Madalyon Psychiatry Center, Psychologist Deniz Tan detailed the developmental importance of play in early childhood and how parents can support their children’s play skills.
The Role of Play in Child Development
Under the topic “Developing Play Skills in Children,” the session highlighted how play contributes to children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. Deniz Tan explained how children build fundamental skills—such as problem-solving, creativity, empathy, and communication—through play.
The presentation emphasized parents’ active role during play. It underlined the importance of choosing age- and developmentally appropriate games and stressed that play is not merely entertainment, but a platform for learning and growth. Practical play suggestions were shared for every stage from infancy to preschool.
The Parent–Child Bond Strengthened Through Play
Throughout the session, examples illustrated how play—especially in the early years—strengthens the bond between parent and child. Shared play experiences foster secure attachment and enhance children’s sense of emotional safety.
Enriched by participants’ questions, the session offered practical guidance on integrating play into daily life. It focused on how parents can guide their children’s play and what approaches make playtime more meaningful and effective.
