Biyografi

Engin Dudu TURAN, born in 1954, graduated from Ankara Girls’ High School in 1970 and started both Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in the same year and became a primary school teacher by passing the Ankara Primary- Teachers School difference exams. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in 1976; She received specialization training first in Forensic Medicine and then in Psychiatry Clinics. She became a Psychiatrist with her thesis titled “Chromosomal Disorders in Alcohol Addicts”. After completing his compulsory service in Kayseri State Hospital between 1983-1985, she graduated from Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine; She was invited to establish the Department of Psychiatry. She carried out this task in 1985-1987. Returning to Ankara in 1987; She first entered Ankara Mental Health Dispensary and then Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Psychiatry Clinic. In 1990, she received training on Geropsychiatry (Old Mental Health) at Crownswille Psychiatric Hospital in the United States; On her return, she focused on Geropsychiatry as an Associate Professor.

After working on Forensic Psychiatry, Psychoses, Sleep Disorders and Geropsychiatry for many years, she established the first Geropsychiatry Unit in Ankara. In 2001, she received the title of Professor and continued to work in the Department of Mental Health and Diseases of Ankara University Faculty of Medicine.

She has researched, written and published articles in various fields of psychiatry. She took charge in Ankara University Institute of Health Sciences, Interdisciplinary Forensic Psychology and Interdisciplinary Social Psychiatry Master’s programs, gave lectures and directed theses. She has written chapters on Geropsychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry in source books in the field of Psychiatry in Turkey.

She served as the Head of the Department of Medical Sciences at the Forensic Medicine Institute of Ankara University, and the Head of the Department of Mental Health at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine; she retired in 2016. In addition to Forensic Psychiatry and Geropsychiatry trainings for physicians before and after retirement; It provides training and tries to enlighten the relatives who care for the elderly, nursing home and nursing home workers about diseases seen in old age (depression, dementia, especially Alzheimer’s) on various platforms.
